This year’s edition of Spider focuses on practices that rely on our immeasurable capacities, while trying to transcend the predominant discourses of fear and the forced means of constructing measurable human inter-relations.

Spider Festival of Radical Bodies 2018
Refusing the Terms of Contract
Because of the rise of extreme nationalist, separatist and racist tendencies based on a discourse of hate and fear, the need to transform our inter-human relations grows day by day. A body becomes radical when it attempts to develop languages and organisational strategies that go beyond such discourses of vague generalisations. When it presents itself as immeasurable and refuses the terms of such a forced, ongoing social contract. A radical body is subversive by example. It positions itself without positioning. It grounds itself in the capacity of the body to overcome, with a series of gestures, the material circumstances of its own existence and is thereby able to reclaim the freedom to generate communities beyond the dominant, exclusionist discourses of power.
This year’s edition of Spider focuses on practices that rely on our immeasurable capacities, while trying to transcend the forced means of constructing measurable human inter-relations.
Spider enables unprecedented and unregulated insight into the processes and strategies of cutting-edge performance-making that question the prevailing psycho-physical and socio-economic order, including its misguided foundations. Now is the time to embody a language beyond exclusionist paradigms, to reveal and embrace the crack of this era and to question and propose other forms of co-existence!
Don’t miss this opportunity and join us at this vital and vibrant crossroads between dance and speech, radical criticism and the embodiment of freedom!
Other languages are possible and we pledge to make them real.
Further details of the program will be announced on 7 August.
