Free performing arts workshops for migrants in Slovenia

Call for participants
Since November 2021, we've been creating a story called Creative Bodies in Movement. With the support from EU Social Funds and Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, and in cooperation with Cene Štupar CILJ, we managed to engage 46 migrants in Slovenia, coming from 20 different countries, to act creatively and productively in the field of performing arts.
All together, we managed to design and deliver four amazing and top-rated educational programs: costume design, scenography, dance and performance, and music.
Great deal of help, commitment and motivation came from 5 renowned artist and amazing mentors – Barbara Stupica (costume design), Atej Tutta (scenography), Leja Jurišić and Matej Kejžar (dance and performance), and Elvis Homan (music).
Until now, we had some great fun:
We met and socialised with people of various background, developing our creativity and collaborative skills and encouraging intercultural and inter-generational dialogue on the way;
We learned about costume design, we got introduced to different methods and materials, and created costumes for different characters;
We learned about scenography, created props and prototype of the stage, and played with lights;
We learned about the body and creative methods used in performing arts contexts, increased our self-confidence through dance, explored social and emotional range of dance and tried to go beyond rigid models;
We learned how to play drums, played some great live music, and learned how to write film music and create sound effects using Ableton.
Now, we are looking for some more creative people to join us for the project finals.
We are looking for performing arts enthusiasts, migrants in Slovenia, who would like to experience the drive of stage performance production and participate in creating a public presentation of the project Creative Bodies in Movement: choose among costume design, scenography, music and dance, and between onstage and offstage engagement.
The workshops are parts of the project Creative Bodies in Movement, a project designed to engage migrants to act productively and creatively, building up their skills and increasing opportunities of employment in Slovenia, in the field of performing arts.
In February 2023, we will start preparing for the final public presentation of the project scheduled for 28 February 2023
